The only time you would retake the NJATC/AIR Aptitude test is if you do not at first qualify for the oral interview by achieving a score of five (5) or above on a stanine scale. You will not be eligible to retest for a period of six (6) months from the previous test date. Qualifying test scores are accepted for a period of two (2) years. If you reapply after that time period you will be scheduled to retake the test. How can I fill out the application? At this time applications are completed online. No experience in the electrical field is required to apply for apprenticeship. The Central New York JATC provides training with a combination of classroom and on-the-job training.
Apprenticeship combines on-the-job and classroom training. The contractor with which they are employed pays the apprentice for on-the-job training.
Hourly rates are based on percentages of the current Journeyman Wireman rate. Effective June 1, 2014 the hourly rate at the Journeyman level is $34.65. Apprentice rates are as follows (hourly, NOT including the benefit package paid by the employer):
1st Period (become an apprentice) $13.85
2nd Period (at 1,000 OJT Hours) $15.60
3rd Period (at 1,800 OJT Hours and completion of 1st Year) $17.35
4th Period (at 3,350 OJT Hours and completion of 2nd Year) $20.80
5th Period (at 4,900 OJT Hours and completion of 3rd Year) $24.25
6th Period (at 6,450 OJT Hours and completion of 4th Year) $27.70
Journeyman Wireman (at 8,000 Hours and completion of 5th Year) $34.65

The only fee associated with the application process would be the $20.00 testing fee. This fee is for the NJATC/AIR Aptitude test, payable online prior to the test. You will be sent payment information after we receive your applicaion and any applicable paperwork.
